Learning marketplaces are session businesses. The UX has to reflect that.

We have built coaching, tutoring, and course marketplace platforms that handle scheduling, delivery, and the trust infrastructure knowledge work requires.

How We Work
Overview

Learning & Coaching

A learning and coaching marketplace connects students, professionals, or organizations with experts, coaches, tutors, and instructors for structured knowledge transfer. The category includes one-on-one coaching platforms, group tutoring marketplaces, course delivery platforms, and fractional expert networks.

The product problem is well-defined: connect someone who knows something with someone who needs to learn it, and make the transaction reliable enough that both sides come back.

The Complexity

Where most builds run into trouble.

01

Session scheduling

Coaching and tutoring happen at a time, not on demand. The scheduling logic has to handle timezone management, recurring session series, rescheduling with fair notice for both parties, and buffer time between sessions. None of that is complicated in isolation. All of it together requires a purpose-built scheduling layer.

02

Credential verification

A coaching marketplace where anyone can claim to be a certified executive coach or licensed therapist is a liability. The verification workflow — what credentials are accepted, who verifies them, how they are displayed, and what happens when they expire — needs to be designed before the first provider goes live.

03

Async delivery scope

Learning platforms often need to support not just live sessions but assignments, feedback, course materials, and progress tracking. Deciding how much of this is in scope for the MVP is one of the most important decisions a learning marketplace founder makes. Most try to build too much and launch too late.

Our Approach

How we think about this category.

We push learning marketplace founders to define the core session model before they build anything else. A one-on-one coaching marketplace and a group tutoring platform with async course delivery are completely different products. Getting clear on the session model first determines the scheduling logic, the delivery tools, the provider experience, and the pricing architecture.

Platform & Technology

What we typically build on.

Simple session-based learning marketplaces can often start on Sharetribe with scheduling extensions. Platforms requiring course delivery, async feedback, progress tracking, or content libraries require a custom build or integration with a purpose-built learning management layer.

Technology stack confirmed in discovery — before a line of code is written.
